The Journey of Kartikey Mishra 2024 (AWADH ORGANICS)

Kartikey Mishra

Kartikey Mishra, the visionary behind Awadh Organics, is set to revolutionize organic farming in Ayodhya. With a deep understanding of the growing demand for organic products, He is transforming his family’s traditional farming practices to create a sustainable and successful organic farming business under the brand name Awadh Organics. Currently, he is a student in class 9th at Takshila Academy in Akbarpur, Ambedkar Nagar, balancing his education with his passion for farming.

The Inspiration Behind Organic Farming

The inspiration to venture into organic farming came from a conversation with my elder brother. He highlighted the increasing demand for organic food in urban areas, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of strong immunity. Recognizing this shift, I, Kartikey Mishra, decided to establish Awadh Organics in Ayodhya, aiming to provide healthy, organic food to consumers and contribute to the growth of the agriculture sector.

Current Farming Practices (Kartikey Mishra)

As of July 31, 2024, my family and I operate on approximately 80 bigghas of land in Ayodhya. Out of this, 60 bigghas are dedicated to cultivating wheat, rice, gram, pulses, rajma, peas, mustard, and sugar cane. These crops are currently sold to wholesalers due to logistical challenges in reaching direct customers. Additionally, we have around 600 mango trees, planted in 2010, which are managed by local caretakers during the mango season.

Our farm in Ayodhya is equipped with all necessary machinery, which, unfortunately, remains underutilized due to limited farming activities. We also have cows and buffaloes that provide manure for our fields, promoting sustainable farming practices.

Future Plans for Awadh Organics

  1. Global Expansion: we aim to expand our organic farming business worldwide, reaching new markets and consumers under the brand Awadh Organics.
  2. Diversified Farming: Beyond grain farming, we plan to cultivate fruits and vegetables in Ayodhya. We intend to start a dairy farm to produce organic fertilizers and generate additional income for Awadh Organics.
  3. Innovative Planting: We plan to plant papaya trees between our mango trees, optimizing space and ensuring proper sunlight for both crops in Ayodhya.
  4. Horticulture Ventures: We aim to establish a dedicated fruit horticulture farm in Ayodhya, growing dragon fruit, lemons, mangoes, papayas, strawberries, lychees, and potentially mushrooms. This diversification will cater to the growing demand for organic fruits and simplify our farming operations.
  5. Direct Customer Delivery: Our goal is to deliver products directly to consumers, ensuring they receive the best quality at the lowest prices, all under our brand Awadh Organics.

Transforming Farming: A Vision for the Future

Currently, farming is viewed as a business, and we intend to maintain this perspective. However, we aspire to scale up significantly. Today, we can walk visitors around our farm in Ayodhya, but in the future, I want our farm to be so vast that a tractor is required for tours. This expansion symbolizes our ambition to create a large-scale, successful organic farming enterprise under the brand Awadh Organics.
